My goodness! I have made it to the halfway point of my loc journey! I am so happy to have gotten to this point. I am not going to lie, I have had my days where I wanted to comb these suckers out and start over, or just be a loose natural again. I thought about having them restarted so that they are smaller and that I will have more locs (current loc count:89). However, I decided that when they were installed I said I wanted medium locs. I also know that I did not want to have so many locs that would be heavy when they got longer and I would not want to deal with them. Therefore I am happy with what I have and decided to stop comparing my developing locs to others when it comes to loc count, length, progress if we started during the same timeframe and fullness.
In my earlier post, I shared a video that I posted on my YouTube channel about my first salon experience. I have maintained my locs ever since they were installed in July. Although I enjoyed doing my hair, I was frustrated at the beginning of the month and decided to see a loctician. I wanted to be pampered in a way and just find out if I was damaging instead of nurturing my budding locs. Going to the salon was the best decision that I made in 2014 and I have decided to keep going (my next appointment is this saturday!) until:
a) July which is when I am 1 year loc’d or
b) until my hair is fully loc’d, whichever comes first.
I never do anything for myself so I think going to a loctician this year will be a monthly treat. It’s nice to have someone else shampoo, condition, massage your scalp and retwist. I do not have to worry about my arms getting tired!..lol.
Please check out my video below which is about my first 6 months loc’d and my goal this year is to be better about sharing my experience on my blog. Thank you for your support!
